Doug Sanders
Pastor Doug Sanders and his wife Janie came to Bethel Baptist Church in September of 2019, and were confirmed by the church in November of 2019. Doug and Janie have three children: Amanda, Amy, and Craig. They also have six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They have been Christ followers throughout their lives but continue to grow in their faith and obedience as their lives have moved forward.
In his secular career, Doug has worked for Indiana University as a Facilities administrator for over 35 years. He has always believed in life-long learning and personal growth and returned to school to finish degrees in General Education (Indiana University, B.S. 1996), Secondary Education (Indiana University, B.S. 2001), and Pastoral Ministry and Leadership (M.A.R. 2016, Cincinnati Christian University).
Doug and Janie were called to vocational ministry late in life and seek obedience and increasing faith as they walk the path that Jesus has modeled for each of us. They truly believe we are all just beggars trying to show other beggars where to find bread. Doug’s goal for us here at Bethel is for us to grow individually as we continue growing collectively as an Acts 2 church that shares all things in common and seeks to share grace with the world.
Although Doug’s favorite scripture changes regularly, he always seems to come back to Romans 8:1 and Romans 8:37-39, which both speak to God’s amazing grace and to the extent of God’s love for us all.
